Hi! I am Julie, a freelance illustrator who aims to translate ideas and complex issues into colorful and understantable imagery.
I combine (home-made) watercolours, ink and digital drawing to create illustrations that convey an evocative atmosphere, using narrative and visual poetic metaphors. Colour balance is important to me and I love playing with gradients, vibrant pigments and delicate transparent layers. Since 2021, I have included risograph printing into my practice.
Biodiversity, society issues and mental health are very dear to my heart but I am always interested in new illustration challenges. I regularly draw for magazines, publishers, charities and institutions. If you have a project in mind or just want to say hi, drop me an email, I would love to hear from you.
What you might also want to know…
I grew up in the countryside of Eastern France and I now work and live in Brussels. I have a background in political sciences and human rights advocacy.
I like clouds, morning fog and spicy hot chocolate. And cats. I always sketch in blue. I cannot draw hands, nor feet. I like the grainy look of risography and the smell of ink. Wind makes me nervous and thunderstorms make me hide. Rainbow colours make me happy.
